Whorebait: Prostitution on MyBlogLog

January 25, 2007 – 12:00 am

Whorebait is any contest or feature within a website that somehow baits viewers to link their social profile to the baiter’s website or to join the baiter’s MyBlogLog community by using prizes, giveaways or promise of fame.

Let’s face facts here people; I’m no Godfather of Search, my posts are barely interesting (if not completely lacking insight), I’m socially inept and most of my friends have no idea what “The Google” is, let alone MyBlogLog (they were all finance majors - ugh). But today I want to make something of myself - I want to make my mark – I want to be popular – I want to create a larger-than-life community on MyBlogLog.

Since I have no established followers/readers/fan-base, the only way I can see building a community quickly is by creating some MyBlogLog whorebait. Some others have tried the “winning a prize” approach (or just “shameless solicitation”) and I like that approach but I want to take mine a step further and add some vanity. It’s quick, easy and everyone loves prizes.

Here is the contest:

How Does it Work?
Join MyBlogLog Community and we (err… I) will pick 2 random winners from my community. The drawing will happen on February 16th 2007, so you have to join before 12pm on that day to be part of the drawing.

What Do I Win?
Folks, its hard staying on top of what is hip & cool… but I think I’ve got it.

1) The Winner of my drawing will receive 1 Nerf Football signed (autographed) by me personally as well as 2 framed 8 x 10 pictures of yours truly. Here’s the best part – both photos will have ME holding YOUR Nerf football so you know they’re authentic!

2) The Runner Up will be granted permission to publicly state that we are “going steady” for one full month (permission ends on March 16th, 2007).

Quite honestly, I don’t know which prize is better.

Join Now! Because you only have a few weeks left and I would NOT want to miss out on these prizes and the only thing worse than not being a winner is being held captive in a foreign country with no communication to the outside world – Join Today! ;)
