My Search Marketing Custom Search Engine
January 24, 2007 – 12:00 amWell Mr. Schwartz, last night before I nearly killed my site by upgrading to WordPress 2.1, I too created a Custom Search Engine specifically designed to be a Search Engine Marketing vertical search engine. And since you have led the way by posting on your engine, I feel fully confident in exposing my engine to the world.
While my CSE may not be as pretty as yours and I haven’t spent the time to create a page on my domain to hold the results (yes, it’s still running to Google – yes, I am lazy), I think I may have a superior SERP on my CSE.
Just look at the evidence below.
In each case I simply searched the term ‘linkbait’ (no advanced operators – just the word typed out). As you will see, however, Barry’s SERP is cluttered with only Digital Point postings, whereas mine has a good variety of domains (from Jim Boykin to Gray Wolf to Search Engine Land). Thus I can only conclude that I have the superior Custom Search Engine – but take a spin around both, do some comparison and let me know which CSE you think is better. I have added my Custom Search Marketing Engine to the header on all my pages – you just have to look up to find it and start using it. Future generations of this tool should improve upon the look/feel and results.
Am I starting a battle I have no way of winning? You bet your ass I am… I just hope Barry clues in or else I will be fighting this one against myself, which is just sort of sad and depressing (and more than likely, exactly what will happen!).
Update: It’s a big day for Google CSE, just headed on over to Stuntdbl and noticed that Todd created an SEM CSE. We must have all had the same breakfast (did that just sound like an 80 year old grandmother?).
For those who don’t like reading, let the robot read to you.
